Independence Steel Partners with Runding Corporation to Improve Job Cost Visibility and Automate Reporting with OpenBuild

[Chester, PA] — March 31, 2026 — Independence Steel & Erectors, a leading structural steel contractor, has selected Runding Corporation to modernize job costing processes, improve financial visibility, and support continued growth across Independence Steel and its affiliated entity, XLE Metals dba Independence Erectors.

As Independence Steel continues to expand, the complexity of managing job cost data, labor performance, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting has increased significantly. Like many growing contractors, the company has relied on a combination of accounting software and spreadsheet-based processes to manage financial workflows. Over time, these manual processes have made it increasingly difficult to gain timely visibility into project performance and margin.

To address this challenge, Independence Steel will implement OpenBuild Cost Manager to automate WIP reporting, integrate directly with the current accounting system, and provide real-time visibility into job cost performance and forecasting. The solution will centralize job cost data, structure change order workflows, and replace manual spreadsheet processes, while preserving the company’s existing accounting systems and operational approach.

With OpenBuild, Independence Steel will be able to automate WIP reporting, reduce the time spent on monthly financial processes, and improve margin control through earlier identification of cost overruns, particularly in labor. The solution also establishes a scalable data foundation to support future capabilities such as labor productivity tracking and advanced project analytics.

The implementation will be deployed across both Independence Steel and XLE, providing a unified framework for job cost management while maintaining flexibility for each entity’s operations.
